Brubacher House
This distinguished home was built in 1850 by John E. Brubacher, a Pennsylvania German Mennonite settler. In 1979, the University of Waterloo officially opened the house as a museum in recognition of the university's location on what was once Mennonite farmland. Guided tours are available May to October, Wednesday to Saturday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and by appointment only from November to April. Tour fees, including a 15-minute DVD presentation, are covered by donation.

Design at Riverside
This public art gallery is operated by Cambridge Galleries in collaboration with the School of Architecture. Design at Riverside is one of only two publicly funded galleries in Canada dedicated to architecture and design, mounting approximately seven exhibitions per year. The gallery is located in the School of Architecture building in Cambridge and is open every day except Monday. Admission is free. Earth Sciences Museum
The museum allows visitors to explore the wonders of the Earth, including fossils, dinosaur bones, and minerals. Located in the March Networks Exhibit Atrium of the Centre for Environmental and Information Technology (EIT), it is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Other times can be pre-arranged for group tours. Special programs can be tailored to grade level or interest. Popular topics include groundwater, volcanoes, dinosaurs, fossils, gems, and minerals. There is no set fee to visit the museum; however, donations are always welcome.

Gustav Bakos Observatory
The observatory, named in honour of the first astronomer at the University of Waterloo, houses a 12-inch telescope located on the roof of the Physics building. Free tours are available to the public. These include monthly public tours; scheduled tours for groups such as girl guides, boy scouts, and elementary and high school classes; and tours for viewing special events such as eclipses and comets. The observatory is open for public tours on the first Wednesday of each month, offering a chance to look through the university's telescope. This will be preceded by a short 30-minute talk on astronomy which includes an opportunity to ask questions, followed by a tour of the dome. In the event of bad weather, observing will not be possible, but the talk and tour of facilities will take place in room 308 of the Physics building. Start time is 8 p.m. during winter months (November to March inclusive) and 9 p.m. for the rest of the year (April to October inclusive).

Museum of Visual Science and Optometry
The museum remains Canada's only museum dedicated to preserving the history of vision. The museum has over 9,000 artifacts related to the history of the development of spectacles and vision science. It is located on the first floor of the School of Optometry building, and the hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is no admission charge; however, donations are welcome.

Stantec Architecture Gallery
The gallery is located off the main atrium of the School of Architecture at 7 Melville Street South, Cambridge. The gallery presents a mixed program of exhibitions, including experimental artwork,
in collaboration with RENDER/Art Gallery design, photography, and installation pieces by students and faculty of the School of Architecture, and travelling exhibitions on architecture and design. The gallery is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is no admission charge.

uWaterloo/Art Gallery
The University of Waterloo Art Gallery manages the collection of the University of Waterloo, programs two exhibition spaces on campus, develops an events program to augment the exhibition program, and works with student employees, volunteers and artists. The gallery’s focus is to produce exhibitions of work by nationally recognized Canadian artists. In recent years, uWaterloo/AG has produced exhibitions that include the work of John Abrams, Robert Houle, Evergon, Julie Voyce, Laura Millard, Rebecca Belmore, and Tony Urquhart, among many others. Our main location is at East Campus Hall, 263 Phillip Street, Waterloo.
