Most students passed the English Language Proficiency Exam in
September 1996: out of 2,171 students who wrote the exam, 49 scored
below 50 per cent, 274 etween 50 and 59, and 1,005 between 60
and 69.  Passing scores range from 50 to 70 depending on faculty.

Reception in Toronto celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Income
Tax Act and the launch of UW's full-fee Master of Taxation program.

Gwen Sharp is named associate registrar (records).

Helen Cooper, former mayor of Kingston and former chair of the Ontario
Municipal Board, comes to the school of urban and regional planning
as planner-in-residence for this term.

Dana Porter Library rearranges the third floor to provide "more peace

UW library, in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University and the
University of Guelph, launches the ERL Database Sharing Project,
providing Web access to a dozen major electronic databases and indexes.
