UW visual identity guide

Standardizing the graphic use of our identity is of primary importance to the University of Waterloo. Retention and recognition are improved and the cost of communication is reduced through consistent application. As we work together to portray a high quality, innovative, future-oriented, and consistent UW image, your attention to our logo standards is appreciated.

Communications and Public Affairs style guide

This style guide is used for Communications and Public Affairs-produced documents, and is available for use by any part of the UW community.

CPA uses the Canadian Press (CP) Stylebook and its companion, CP Caps and Spelling. We consult the Canadian Oxford Dictionary for words not found in CP. Exceptions and UW-specific references are included in the CPA guide. As well, our guide covers common writing errors.

The guide has several parts:

  2. Capitalization
  3. How to write lists
  4. UW building names
  5. UW acronyms and initialisms
